Marche Saxe-Breteuil

This market is considered the most appealing outdoor food market in Paris. This is a neighbourhood of well-to-do residents and the vendors understand that their clients are discriminating and have money to spend which helps explain the quality of meat, fish and produce as well as the wide range of other products for sale.

The market is shaded at this time of year by two rows of sycamore trees. The Eiffel Tower is almost always in view which adds to the ambiance of this market. With two parallel rows of stalls, it's easy to get around Saxe-Breteuil. I've been to a number of open air markets in Paris and this is the first time I've seen two rows of stalls.

There also is a large assortment of household goods, fine lace tablecloths, scented soaps, oriental rugs, quilts and hardware. Personal clothing is abundant as well as purses, wallets and other leather goods known as maroquinere because they come from Morocco. This place is almost as good as the BHV although NOTHING I've ever seen anywhere in the world can touch the BHV which I plan to visit later today to pick up some inexpensive kitchen stuff. These apartments are lacking some basic tools like a cutting board and bread knife. I think I'll also pick up some plastic storage bins to put some of this food in that I'm compelled to buy every time I go to a market like the Marche Saxe-Breteuil.

Life is good ... enjoy.
