Day 33 - Florence .... again

We drove to Florence today and did  some more exploring. Lucy and I had been there for an evening and a morning but no one else on this trip had had the opportunity and one in the group had never been there ever. So it was another day exploring Florence. Lucy and I spend more time inside this time although we did a fair bit of walking as well.
The Medici family built Florence and most for Italy for that matter and they had two interesting qualities. First they were the wealthiest family in Italy and possibly all of Europe, second they had big egos. Needless to say when you combine these two attributes you end up with some spectacular palaces filled with spectacular art. You end up with some spectacular churches and off course you have to fill them with spectacular art. And when you have money you attract the best artists in the world since virtually every artist is poor and is looking for a benefactor.  So Florence is full of the legacy of the Medici family and world is better off for it.
Enjoy the pictures ... some are of the insides of church ... some are people shots ... some are just nice photos ... I love the first one of the Pont Vhechio with the reflection in the Arno river.
Ciao
